I spent the weekend just past in Mudgee, appearing at the annual Mudgee Readers’ Festival. Nothing like a literary festival held in a wine-growing area: they always seem to work. (Can’t imagine why.) I was fortunate to have Scrublands chosen for Mudgee Library’s ‘One Book, One Community’ initiative. Kind of like a big book club. I was interviewed by local Michael Bourke. He’s quite a character: sometimes I felt as if I was on an hour-long episode of Hard Chat!
Coming up on Saturday 24th August I find myself in the strange situation of appearing at two distinct writers festivals on the same day. At 9:30 I’m on a panel at the National Library as part of the Canberra Writers Festival, then I jump in the car and drive up to Katoomba to be interviewed by the ABC’s Cassie McCullagh at 4:30pm as part of the Blue Mountains Writers’ Festival.
The programs of both festivals look amazing – either one would make for a weekend well-spent.
